Luz comes up with a plan to get the palismen away from Kikimora while en-route to the Emperor's castle. Using a fire and ice glyph combination, she will conjure up a thick mist, combined with pollen from sleeping nettle flowers that will create a sleep-inducing smoke, forcing Kikimora and her dragon to land. The Golden Guard is impressed by Luz's knowledge and compares Luz's glyph magic to the elemental magic once used during the Savage Ages.
Coven
After the fight Hunter went as far as using dirty tricks by threatening to harm Luz if she doesn't surrender the key, but after she does hand it over, he does show genuine gratitude, visible remorse about this before leaving, showing he did so out of desperation and fear of his Uncle, not malice. The duo first met each other in "Eclipse Lake", when Hunter is captured by Amity and is forced to follow her, Eda and King into the mine tunnels. Noticing Luz's messages to Amity on the device, Hunter interprets it as Luz wanting Amity to come back with results or she will break up with her. When Kikimora starts getting closer to Hunter and Amity's hiding place, he begs Amity to untie him, saying he doesn't want to be replaced. Amity reluctantly obliges, but Hunter immediately betrays her by tripping her down and rushes towards Eclipse Lake. Later, after realizing what Luz's messages truly meant, Amity tries to console Hunter by telling him that there are people out there who won't make him feel worthless, and offers him her hand.
Flyer Derby Team
Later, in "Eclipse Lake", Kikimora tries to find Titan's Blood as fast as possible, constantly paranoid about Hunter ruining her plans and stealing her work in the mine tunnels. On the day of Luz's belated quinceaƱera, Hunter meets up with Willow and together they fly to gather the rest of their friends. They stop at the new Latissa Hospital, and after meeting with Darius, go to the location of Luz's quinceaƱera. As they watch the Collector put on a light show, Hunter places his arm around Willow's shoulder and she pulls him in by his waist. When Belos is defeated, Hunter and his companions thank the Collector for helping and they work with him to revert the citizens of the Boiling Isles back to normal. He helps Willow find her dads and looks on in sadness as the three share a happy moment.
Luz Noceda
When Darius takes them and their palismen, Hunter is reminded that their palismen are to be given to Belos, Hunter regrets of what he has done having realized the way he was raised is not normal. Hunter goes to rescue them and when Darius is about to attack them, Hunter protects them and helps them leave, abandoning his title in the process. Despite everything that's happened, Hunter hears that Willow, Gus and the rest do consider him as a friend. Instead of scolding Hunter, Darius praises him and gives him a scroll to contact them as he needs connections outside the castle. In "Hunting Palismen", he begs Emperor Belos to let him help him with his declining condition using wild magic, which his uncle immediately shuts down, stating that wild magic is the reason that their family is gone and instead sends him out to find more palismen after depleting their resources. The Golden Guard abducts the tree filled with palismen at Hexside, unknowingly kidnaping Luz in the process, who then surprises him by rocketing him off of his own ship with a fire glyph, only to for him to teleport back where he captures Luz, who sends his staff flying, and soon crash lands in Latissa because of Kikimora.
Family information
Hunter is hurt that Belos tricked him about the Titan and that Belos doesn't really care about him, and Hunter sees the masks of all the Golden Guards. When he and Luz are confronted by Belos, they find out that the being chasing them is a manifestation of palismen souls and that the inner Belos has been with them the whole time, and they watch in horror as Belos destroys the souls. At that point Hunter no longer denies what he has seen and asks Belos what really happened and that the whole thing about their family being destroyed by wild magic was also a lie. Belos tells Hunter that he is a Grimwalker and the one who looked the most like "him" and seemingly gets rid of him.
Hunter apparently hails from a family where a majority of his ancestors lacked magic. Despite being a witch, Hunter himself lacked any natural magic, making his future on the Boiling Isles a dim one. However, his uncle, Emperor Belos, took Hunter under his wing and gave him a staff imbued with artificial magic, claiming that the Titan had big plans for him.

After Luz admits her role in helping Belos find the Collector, Hunter tells Luz that all Belos ever does is use people, and if it wasn't her, it would've been someone else, and insists that they finish this fight together for Flapjack's sake, which Luz agrees. As Hunter approaches the portal, he becomes despondent as he returns to the Boiling Isles, mourning Flapjack for his sacrifice. Initially, Hunter was unaware of Caleb's existence, and of his grimwalker nature, due to Belos hiding the truth from him. In "Hollow Mind" however, after finding out about his true nature during his and Luz's time in Belos' mind, Hunter gradually began learning about Caleb's existence, but was initially unaware of his name or true character, knowing only by the Day of Unity that he was a witch hunter with Belos before being killed by him. Because of this, Hunter initially held a fearful opinion of Caleb, assuming him to have shared Belos' hatred of witch and demonkind. This heavily contributed to the insecurities Hunter possessed over his artificial origins, as he felt ashamed and fearful that his friends would reject him for being the clone of a witch hunter.

The two fight, with Kikimora managing to set fire to a strand of Hunter's hair. The resulting crash leaves the Golden Guard unmasked, unconscious, and vulnerable, but Luz is unable to leave him to die at Kikimora's hands and subsequently slaps the guard awake. He immediately storms over to one of Latissa's police precincts to contact the castle and shows his coven brand as proof. However, the guards running the precinct do not recognize their superior due to his young age, and when the Golden Guard asks for his staff in order to prove his identity, Luz hides it behind her back. Annoyed, the Golden Guard chases Luz through Latissa, and while she manages to elude him by using an ice pillar, the Golden Guard easily manages to climb up and corners her.
